    Gun show cartouche

    Hello,

I was at a local gun show and saw an M1icon sitting in the rack with this cartouche on the stock.
It didn't sell and may well be at the next one. What do you experts think, is it OK?

    Thanks

looking at the picture it appears that the pores in the wood are not filled also the corner of the wood appears sharp but the metal finish on the receiver looks worn makes me cautious about the wood

If I can get this pic to come up maybe it will be better.
Someone went through a lot of trouble to impress the a rear sight knob over the top of the cartouche.

I see nothing wrong with it from that picture. I tried to find bad in it but cannot although I would like a clearer picture to be 100% sure. Rick Bicon

Exactly, I have a completely original 1943 GAW that has a few windage knob marks in it from the rifle beside it.

I've seen some with Op handle dings...tragic. Of course in service this is almost forgivable, frown upon but forgivable.

FWIW, that cartouche looks fine to me. I like the receiver's finish & the sight knob too.
