The foresight deflector bar is redundant with a dial sight. Nice to see a warmed up Vickers steaming away in a gun pit on a cold morning overlooking the field firing ranges at Netheravon for the GPMG SF courses.

If you can't afford a Vickers you could always opt for the Russianicon 1910 Maxim (poor man's Vickers), in U.K. deactivated form, and then get your self a Vickers chest to modify in which to keep it.

Barry Lathwell who owns Barry's Firearms in Perth paid $12,000/AU for a sectionised Vickers @7 years ago I also think there was a 2pdr A/T gun he brought at the same time for a tad more than the MG.

I came across this setup yesterday and explained to my wife what a superb Museum standard display set up this was and what a significant HMG the Vickers was.

I also pointed out how stunning it would look as the centre piece in our living room .. after a few reflective seconds she explained it would look good in my rented bachelor flat!

Wow! That’s an understanding wife. Mine would go nuts if she found out I had a bachelor pad.

Couldn't you tell her that you really don't wan't a Vickers but, unfortunately, you are being forced into having to get one, deactivated of course, for research purposes?
