    A Rare MK3 Bren

    I don't know if anyone else has spotted this "MK3 Bren" currently on the market. Apparently this specimen is of 1940 vintage and boasts the added benefit of having a dove-tail bracket. A further enhancement is that it is deactivated to the new E.U. spec..

    not seeing a Mk3. I see a picture of an early Mk1
    on a side note.. that would still be classed as a machinegun by the atf because the body is not cut 3 times

    Yeah, I am following you F10.

    That’s a little over $600. It would be a good deal over hear, providing the body was cut into three parts,,, that we would weld back together.

    John has just used the title from the Mk3 listing but forgot to remove ammend the wording. The new EU spec renders them to the same condition as STENs, fewvmoving parts.

    I wasn't quite sure why this was labelled as a MK3 when I couldn't see any MK3 parts but I did wonder if there were some MK3 aspects that I'd missed. Does anyone know if the cocking handle moves on these E.U. spec deacs and can the butt slide be withdrawn from the receiver or is it all welded up together solid, please? I've not examined an E.U. spec deac in the M.G. class.

    The piston extensions are welded in place so although the coking handle isn't welded, you can't pull it back because of the fixed extension. Also the body locking pin is welded closed so you can't withdraw the lower. I assume this to be the standard as ive seen a few now. Oh and the breech block is cut in 1/2 with the bottom part scrapped and top 1/2 welded into mag well. The extension has the front half cut off and the rear welded in place. The sear is also welded in the down position.

    Are many people buying this new spec of deac, of a M.G. do you know? WWA don't currently do deacs to M.G.s unless you request it, so they say.

    I cannot see or even imagine anyone buying one of the new spec deacts. I suppose one would look OK if it were fixed onto a mount in/on the turret of an AFV.........

    The deacs in my collection fill the places of firearm types that are otherwise prohibited from private ownership here. All mine with the exception of one, are what we would call old spec in the UKicon, with full moving parts and some fully strip, while others have the barrel pinned into position.

    I have excellent examples of Sterling, Sten, L1A1 family and MP5, all very sensitively and professionally deactivated, while being fully legal and Proof House certificated.

    I feel they form part of a well rounded collection, that comprises live and deactivated firearms.
