Need help indentifying a boatswain's whistle US Navy
Hey Guys,
I have a boatswain's whistle from a friend of my dad's who was a WWII vet. Could someone help identify this? It say's penn mint on the top. No other markings that I can see. It's attached to a braided cord. Any info you could provide would be much appreciated. It appears to be silver. My biggest question is if this is a US Navy issue item, or aftermarket?
Thanks!

It looks correct. They can be had easily through various sources but the real ones are solid and well made.

In my WWII Navy days it was usually referred to as a "Bo'sun's CALL also.
My lanyard did not have a metal hook. It looks like mine, except my lanyard is white,

I think RN models had a wide broad arrow marking too.
