Just an update on my search for information about the birch stocks.

I mailed my question to the historical department of the Savage company.

After several weeks they responded. Their answer was they have no records on these rifles. They further said that any existing records would have been shipped to Britainicon with the rifles.

I am not surprised, I've never heard from anyone that Savage shows any interest in the history of these guns. Too bad.

Incidentally, when I received their answer, they mistakenly enclosed a copy of some one else's letter asking about a lawn mower their company made many years ago.

I later got an email from the owner of the mower saying he had the copy of my letter asking about the rifle.

It kind of shows both the level of interest, and professionalism in the Historical Department at Savage Arms. Too bad...
