Restoring crest on 93 Mauser question

Hi. I am going to try to restore at least a semblance of the Spanish Crest on a 1893 Mauser Oberndorf 1896. I am bringing the old girl back to its 1898 Spanish American war appearance and having no crest is a bummer. I have been looking into etching and wonder if anyone has ever done this for restoration. I do need a couple of rubbings of original crests, this would be very helpful as then there would be no scale issues in working up a stencil. anyone could possibly help making the pattern for the etching.? Can anyone help a fellow low budget collector send me a rubbing or two via snail mail? I think it would be awesome to bring this tired old gun back to a semblance of it's glory.
