My *newest* No4Mk1 (T) (with matched scope!)

If anyone is counting this makes two... I as many months. I justify the purchases by telling myself 'one to shoot, one to save.'

First off, I apologize for the pictures, my FFL took them for me as I am currently in Iraq (and for the Brits on here, 4 Rifles is/are here too).

Numbers matching, with the transit case and scope as well as the scope case. To me, and I would like to think , objectively, the rifle is in excellent condition. The transit chest has definitely been re-painted and re-stenciled on the front but the case is genuine.

This rifle and items sold on RIA in 2014. That's all I know about the recent history of the rifle.

I would love to hear any feedback and/or comments and any other information gleaned from this rifle. Just don't say anything that will lead me down the path of another Enfield purchase... For some reason the picture of the transit chest will not load.

    My local regiment!
4 Rifles have the freedom of the city of Salisbury and the sound from their silver bugles is a noise to behold.
Thank you for sharing that information with us.

Those Mk1 type foresights were the bane of sniper rifles and was one of the reasons that they were changed on all rifles to the Mk2 and 3 type. It would reflect a band of light straight back across the OG lens of the telescope.

    Well, you did ask!

We're not. Usually wives like to count such things though!

So, is the rifle still 'correct' with the Mk1 foresights? These have been on the rifle since at least 2013 (the RIA auction).

I will also add that I believe the middle sling swivel is a commercial one, there are no proofs and it looks to me, at least, to be more similar to the civilian versions.

Since I cannot load a picture of the chest, here is a link to the 2013 RIA auction which does show the transit chest as well as the original description:

Can't see the middle sling loop you mention but it LOOKS as though the swivel part has been pushed up and come adrift from the screw part. But looks like it's the military spec one.
The Mk1 and 1* foresights were obsolescent very early on but of its on yours, then it's there. Not conducive to the T rifle but there you go........
