What makes it even more sad is the fact that there's no need to dewat one of those a/tk rifles because it's exempt from the firearm legislation now!

Quite Peter, I find the .22 kit deac hatchet job just exasperating!

I don't why some people don't just ask for advice first before reaching for the angle grinder and mig welder.

I don't have an issue with deacs in general, but it really grinds my gears and makes steam come out of my ears when people deactivate such rare items as these.

I was only talking to someone a few weeks ago who had collected a whole set of extras for his K98icon's over the years, he had been looking for a rare complete .22 conversion kit for ages .. this will make him throw up his arms in horror!

It's depressing what some people will do to make a profit!

Should be drummed out of the gun trade...

To be fair to the dealer concerned, it may not necessarily be the dealer selling it who did the deac or had it done. He may simply have received it in that state?

The only firearm that should be deactivated is one that is beyond repair and a danger is ever shot.

To deactivate a gun is NUTS.

Countless Thompson's, Sten's and Brens have been deactivated in Canadaicon to what end? No registered owner of a FA has EVER committed a crime with one...EVER.

There have been crimes committed with illegally owned FA's but the honest gun owner being persecuted for owning one has not had any effect on the morons who smuggle them into our country.

    Rant over.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

One reason that some guns in certain classes of firearms are deactivated in the U.K. is so that they can be legally sold within the U.K. on the open market. Clearly the example in post 1 is not one of these.
