    Another cartouche question

    Hi Guys,

Does this cartouche look legit? I'm certainly no expert.

It seems like it's too fresh.

    Thanks

Looks fake to me. BTW, the GHS stock cartouche is one of the most faked out there. To help, a GHS stock will have a "scalloped" clip latch cut and a number stamped inside the barrel channel.

Scalloped (tapered) clip latch cut. All GHS stcks have this cut and some very early EMcF stocks as well.

Down to the bottom left corner of the box you see the trace of another box. Lower left of the "G" also shows a trace of a previous letter stamp.

Anyway, here's a very long thread we were all involved in some time back with many tells and hints. As Rick Pointed out, double and triple strikes don't make any difference, nor upside down, cannons on the wrong side or light V/S heavy... Many hints and things to look at.
