Obviously 3 mags isn't much of a sample to go on but I did wonder if only MK1 mags were converted, perhaps using the opportunity to fill in the viewing holes at the same time. What we need is someone to produce a converted MK2 mag to discount this theory.

I thought I had a converted Mk2 magazine. It looks like it doesn’t have inspection holes from the outside. You can only see the solder on the inside. Someone did a very nice job of filling the holds, smoothing the solder and painting.

A good theory BP, but killed two birds with one stone last night as I needed the denso tape so unwrapped them, one is a standard mag (no conversion), someone spent some time wrapping them with some care. Mags are nothing special and quite well used etc.
