    Piston question

Have an inch pattern gas piston marked "ATC". Trying to find out who it was made by. Checked the FAL Files. Some think it is Britishicon manufactor, others USAicon. No one seems to know for sure.

    Thanks,
    bonnie

You're right that it is UKicon made an I believe that it's a small sub contract company used by P-H (Parker Hale) who made batches of L1A1 rifle spares after productiion ceased at the old RSAF. A lot of the late production was marked PH. I saw some marked INT too.

    Peter,
Thanks for your reply and sharing your knowledge with us.
I enjoyed your earlier comments on the rear locking lug and "bodges". I had an out of spec, cast upper that was loose as a goose at the rear locking lug. Tried several fixes with shims, epoxy, etc that were bodges. Finally soldered a metal shim to the rear lug and filed to fit. No welder access. Locked up tight and has worked for several hundred rounds. You might know this type of quality work as "WECSOG". For the Wiley E. Coyote School of Gunsmithing. I'am a terror at my basement workbench.
