    SMLE .22 trainer

I glommed a SMLE .22 training rifle a few years back and really never shot it. This weekend my youngest son was visiting, so we hit the range and fired a few of the safe queens, including the trainer.

@50 yards with plain old Aguilla ammo. Trigger is pretty bad on the SMLE, so it was a challenge

Very nice rifle. I'll get one sooner or later, just for the fun of shooting cheap, easy ammo also on pistol ranges.
    Looks like new also.

I took some safe queens afield for Memorial Day including the Lithgowicon SMLE trainer No 2 Mk Iv. I think it may be my very favorite. Lovely and a joy to shoot.

    Thanks, guys

My first shot was kind of funny. I heard the striker go forward, but the report was so quiet and there being almost no recoil, I thought it had misfired. I turned and looked at my son, who was spotting, and he nodded and said "9 ring". LOL.

We also shot a .22 MAS 45 safe queen and it was pretty accurate too.

Those are great .22LR rimfires. I have a No2.MKIV* rebuilt from a BSA 1918 No.1 MKIII* by Enfield in 1936. I placed a Parker Hale PH5A rear sight on the rifle and hit golf balls at 100 hundred yards. I really enjoy shooting them and my 2 BSA No.7 MKI .22LRs.

I've got a PH 5A sight and a Central sight that should fit this. I've been thinking of mounting one of them on it.
