    P1907 Bayonet Search

Greetings fellow collectors! My eldest son recently purchased a 1917 BSA No . 1 Mk III* in very nice condition (say NRA Excellent). I would like to purchase him a bayonet in similar condition with scabbard and frog. I collect US martial pieces and I am completely out of the water as to where to start a search outside of Ebay. Any suggestions on sources would be greatly appreciated. Regards, H.T. Rea, Katy, Texas

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Yes...simply place a WTB on the appropriate forum here and ye shall likely find... There's lots of US collectors on here that may have a spare.

You could try fellow member Brian Dickicon who may be able to help or advise you. I've just looked on his website and a 1907 bayonet is listed but I don't know if it's still available. You need to be careful if importing from outside of the U.S. to follow the rules but Brian may be able to advise you on exactly what the rules are.

I'd steer away from mint-condition bayonets, as repros are being sold in the USAicon

are you searching for one that fits and works or one that is era correct for your rifle?

ebay remains the the best choice for a working blade and scabbard but be patient.

I looked for 8 months to find separatly my era correct bayonet and the correct scabbard so be patient they do show up, however be prepared to pay. searched alot but both were purchased on ebay. found both here in the USAicon.

there is a publication that deals with and promotes the Military antiques industry

    Its called

    Military Trader

if you call this number they may be able to tell you where they sell the magazine at a news stand local to you.

    866-700-2994

dont know if they are on line. Many vendors of Militaria advertise in it.

All you guys have to do to see where someone is from is click on the little blue button at the bottom of his posting box. It shows where he is, it makes less conjecture about where he is. Or, read the address he posted...

He has a WTB posted now...
    Regards, Jim

I fully realised where he was, Jim, and I wasn't in any way making any sort of conjecture or using guesswork as to his location. I have, in the past, purchased a couple of bayonets from Brian Dickicon in the U.S.iconA and he very kindly advised me of the rules and regulations regarding exporting bayonets out of the U.S.A. which I was not aware of. This prevented my newly purchased bayonets being seized and possibly destroyed by U.S. Customs if the rules and regulations had, inadvertently, not been followed. I would conjecture that as the U.S.A. has rules and regulations about exporting bayonets out of the country they may, possibly have some controls over importing them into the country?

Not everyone fully identifies where they are from.....for personal security reasons.

when it come time to close the deal those details become fully revealed between the two parties.

Think olsmithy was into bayonets as well he may have leads, e bay if you go world wide but read and look at the descript a couple of times so you fully understand what they are selling and whether it represents good value as some sellers want the earth for a hack others want squat for a sleeper like a Vickers or Mole then post pics here so others can help as the service/advice here is kindly donated by those with the experience.

My hunt still goes on for a Hookie which gets further from the pie as the years go by a K is the going price at present......

I have an Anderson And Pall Mall 1907 pattern and about 10 India Pattern blades I'm selling for a friend. PM me if you are interested in either of the 1907s or India patterns. I'm in the US so shipping should not be an issue.
