Please help identify??
I am trying to identify this bayonet...Any one have any ideas? I have yet to find a single triangular blade bayonet with a wood handle that has the pins going through top to bottom instead of side to side.

Welcome to the forum tsladen.
I think that you would be best off taking some more detailed photos of the handle and of the blade just forward of the cross piece/guard. Pay particular attention to photograph any markings and then you would probably be best served by starting a new thread in this, Edged Weapon, Forum. Click on the Edged Weapon Forum then click on "Post New Thread" in the top left of your screen. You should be able to post your pictures in your new thread in a similar manner to what you have already done on this thread.

Looking again BAR and I think that you're right!!!!! The pommel part looks just like it's straight off a No1 bayonet and the crosspiece looks like it's from a pre- No1 bayonet - whatever they were called

Looks like one of the 1906-7 trials bayonets which were converted from MH socket bts at Enfield for the SMLE.

I've "borrowed" one of the pictures from post 1 and after lightening, cropping and reposting the picture you can just see that the pommel has a clearing/cleaning hole in it. It is my understanding that these holes only started appearing in the pommels of 1907 bayonets during WW1. I wonder if this bayonet was created in India or another country in the region to use up surplus Martini socket bayonets on SMLE rifles?
