A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. What specifically do you need or want to know?
And are you sure about the D?

I am not sure with anything
It is a rifle for sale. Only three useless pictures
But this serial number description seems strange with the D
And the text says that the rifle is stamped ERA?

My advice would be, to be absolutely direct as a potential bidder to the auction house, and request the serial number, as a potential buyer so you can autheticate the provenance and value to be offered...........just an idea!!!

    Thanks Gil

I have already did that. But I have not got an answer.
But I have manage too magnified one picture of the rifle from left side.
It look lige a Savage with some additional after stamps
That fits the C in serial number and maby the D is a reading fault.
So I think I will pass on this one.

    Thanks for all answer

On that basis, from an auction house who don't reply there's good reason............forget it. Always ask on here if you find another one, but try and get the serial number or some images

57C is a Savage manufactured No 4 Mk 1* manufactured in 1943 in the overlap period from year of manufacture dated rifles to no date. The D is most probably a 0 followed by three other numbers indicating it was one of the 570,000 rifles built in that number range. This rifle should have a two groove barrel fitted.
