You'll know from Warminster, there are so many other contenders in the pot they could have gone for including Glock, but heyho, one has to always consider delivery dates and repairs etc and all the training of those who will have to take care of the finer workings in service when they fail.

Lots of them have features I like and many have already proven themselves in combat. I do like the Sig 226 ergo for instance and the Glock 22...or 17... I still like the Beretta 92/96...but the ergo Sig 226 is smaller and comes to hand better...for instance. I also still have a Colt Govt by the way and have no issues with it either, and a Browning Hi Power.

I think the Sig Sauer was the better choice. It's has more features needed in Today's Army with all the extras for Pistols these days that would be a great benefit to them. Beretta has been there choice for years and even though I think Beretta is a Sweet pistol especially the Mod.92 I like the Quality of Sigs and like there Stiker Fire and it's Sighting design to go with a Red Dot and has Rails. It also holds more rounds and the Barrel can be threaded and to me why the Army went with it is the Sig is a Great Quality Pistol with these extras and the cost was less by more than 50.00 a unit.

Personally, I think they should stick with the 1911 but with that option tabled, not picking a Glock was a good choice. Never liked the Glock, never fell for the supposed "wow" factor. I have no desire to own one.

Agreed........however there are better choices than the Glock for instance the Beretta they trialled too
