A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... I think Simon is away on a course at the minute. I know he's chasing his tail at the moment, so bear with him. In his absence I've gleaned the info on a few of the rifles for those of you waiting, but please note I am NOT taking over Simon's job!

    As follows:

Envoy E 334. Sent to Parkers Birmingham on 3/3/71.

Envoy E 110. Same as E334, same date, too!

Envoy E 298. The is no information recorded about the disposal of this rifle. This does not mean that your rifle is a fake, just that someone forgot to record to where it was sent!
(E297 went to Fultons on 20/3/70 & E299 went to Collins, New Kent Rd SE1 on 1/3/70).

    L39A1 A994. Went to Donnington on 1/3/72.

L42A1 W32479. This rifle is not in my copy of the list. However, V32479 is. Could the 'W' be a doubly struck 'V'? It is very easy for a letter stamp to 'bounce' when given a good clout.
V32479 went to Donnington on 20/1/72 as part of batch number 50 consisting of 28 rifles.

L42A1 90L8009. This one isn't in my copy of the list either, although 90L8089 is. That is the nearest I could get, & it went to Donnington on 4/6/71 as part of batch number 13 of 18 rifles.

Hope this helps till Simon gets back into circulation.

    Folks,

I offered this service as a help for collectors but I never once said I would offer an instant response!

I realise it may be a strange concept to some but I have a life and a business to run away from the Bloody Computer screen and I've been up to my eyes in stuff far more pressing of late. When I have time I will reply to enquiries but if my response time isn't up to snuff feel free to bugger off and do your own research!

Thanks Roger and Gil for stepping in.

    Simon.

Could I also add to that, that this site runs on contributions.
It costs money to provide this unbelievable archive of information to anybody that drops in, sometimes just the once, and never to be seen again, asking a question about their rifle which they believe is a God given right to them from this site.

Much archive material, on ALL rifles, is held by certain individuals such as the service Simon provides. This service CANNOT be obtained anywhere else, supplied with the depth of knowledge on certain categories of rifles that we all own.

I will get off my perch now, and say if you have been helped in anyway, and provided with information FREE that would have cost you big bucks to attain anywhere else...............make a contribution to the site.
I am sure Doug will make good use of it, providing this fantastic service for us all.

Thanks for the info, very useful.
Simon, personally I never expected any type of instant response, I understand that forums are the lowest priority in most peoples lives, as and when is always good.
Great site and fantastic work guys.

    Wow.....

A surviving ex-Met Police Enforcer - I thought the Met.Police had destroyed all their Enforcers, rather than sell on as surplus.

I'd love to own an ex-Met.Police Enforcer.
