early 7,92x57mm conversion to 7,62x51mm cartridges

Back in the early 1960's, 7,62mm surplus just was not around except in small amounts,
rifles such as the West Germanicon FAL and some HK variations were becoming available to
the public in the USAicon. Also conversions of both Swissicon and Frenchicon rifles to fir the 308 Winchester were also available. There was expensive Winchester and Remington 308 available from the commercial market.

A few small reloading companies did convert Israeli 7,92x57mm (headstamps 54 and 55) to
the 7,62x51mm, these worked out very well without any problems that I am aware of during this period.

Only thing would be a problem and maybe not in this case is the case wall being thicker and causing pressure issues. That's usually if you take a .30 cal and size it down though. 8mm isn't much difference...in length. I turned about 600 FC .308 empties into 7.92 Kurz and I had to reduce loads of course.

The US 7,62mm blanks work the best for forming the 7,92mm Kurz from my experienceAttachment 85957

I liked the FC because they were butter soft and we all know how good the brass is. I guess it all worked flawlessly...
