I couldn't find the 'insert link' on my iphone last night



Built this one a few years back, refinished it a few weeks ago.

This is my 1943 Bren of Enfield origin, restored from IMA-USA kit to Semi-auto condition. It has my recoil/firing striker system. The repairs to the stock are period repairs probably done by a British armorer. The stock has been finished in tung oil to preserve the wood and enable easy repairs if they become necessary. The Bren is painted in Cerakote (custom blend) 'Parkerized' over fresh Parkerized metal conversion. She has an older sister, a 1940 Double dove tail.

Nice looking job on the refinish, I specially like the dovetail repair on the butt. Nice clean looking gun.

The two pegs in the wood insert indicate a proper Armourers repair. It will out live you! I wondered how long it would take you to position your left hand from under the gun - to get a handful of red hot cases - to around the small of the butt. Nice gun. Enjoy it.

Good day . You have a great looking Bren . Can you provide more details on your recoil/ striker system . Is it your system ? What changes to the rear of the receiver do you have to make to install it ? Like drilling additional holes in the butt stock for the tube and the spring . This system looks very different than the one Wise-Lite used on their semi-auto conversions .Can it be used to replace the Wise-Lite semi-auto striker system ? Thanks for any information you can provide .

You would only have to modify the existing spring tube. Its best done with a lathe, a Ø7/16" center drill and a Ø12mm reamer. The original tube has a Ø13mm bore and a small hole, the small hole needs to be bigger. So as you can imagine the lip on this modified tube is small, but it stops the recoil falling out when you disassemble the gun. - yes, I designed it.

I seem to always place my hand there first, then there's this nagging thing in my head "you're doing it wrong". I haven't done it yet, would appear that it I did I would remember not to put it there...

I used to put my lefdt hand over the butt out of sheer habit - all the time. Until I did it again - out of sheer habit, with the L86., UK Light Support Weapon, whereupon the cocking handle came sharply rearwards and took the nail off my little finger and shredded the next two! Didn't do it again. How the training staff laughed and thought it was sooooo funny. They didn't think it funny a few days later when they were all on late supervisory duty!

Thanks for the up date on your semi-auto striker system . Is there a difference in the Bern MKI and the Bren MKII recoil tubes , to take into consideration for the opening the bore inside Dia. , or are the tubes the same ?

The tubes are subtly different, but functionally are all the same. The ZB cz.26 variety is different enough that I'm not sure what you'd have to do to make it work.
