Exactly how was the jump case worn and what is the loop for? Any vintage pics?

A few pics of my M1A1 jump case. Did not come with my carbine but I found one from the same year of manufacture. A bit frayed in a couple spots and some minor stains, plus the material and lettering are faded a bit.

Mine has a wide strap sewed to the back like a belt loop, opens from the sides. Also has a smaller loop sewed on. Was the case designed to be worn with the a web belt through the wide strap and what was the smaller loop for?

I have read that strapping it on for a jump could lead to a broken leg. How did that happen?

I've been looking for pics. Some are amazing with the amount of gear these men jumped with. Surprising they wouldn't have broke both legs.

That is the same as the case I have. Looks like he may have it installed on his web belt or is using the loop, can't be sure from the pic. I see he hasn't strapped the bottom part to his leg. Maybe the bottom strap being applied is what broke legs. I wonder if that is true about legs broken with the case strapped on? Can't find where I read that.

Maybe the Wide pocket on the case had a belt looped/snapped thru it, like the belt part of the harness. The Top Loop of the case was probably attached to the parachute suspender harness. And the bottom lashing of the case went around the upper knee/lower thigh or below the knee on the upper calve........ or a tie off for the rucksack to hang from when released (?). So once you cleared yourself of the chute, the gun was clear to get to quickly.

Anything tied to your legs keeps you from flexing when you land...Feet and knees, hips, diagonal line across the back... I wouldn't want anything around my legs.

My first impression is that the advertiser should dump the male models and get some regular guys to show off the cases. They certainly look ready for the hunt or range time eh? Or... The cased rifles make for the perfect accessory for a night out on the town hunting cougars?

I found one more picture..
The Trooper passing the Carbine carry case up in to the plane is the type I have with the rigger added extension sewn on it. See the case like yours in front, it has a 2 -15rd mag pouch attached up at the fold. Looking closely the case like yours sure looks like it is 'Strapped' just above the knee of the Trooper.

You mean the carbine case above Charlie? It's not strapped to a leg...his left leg is forward as he walks. You see his pistol on his right hip.
