    Winchester Model 1903 Trainer

Some year sago I acquired this Winchester Model 1903. I was interested to note that it had Britishicon military and R.A.F. markings. I understand that these rifles date back to the First World War and were used in the training of air gunners.

Too, there were "Guns for Britainicon" that were simply everything that would shoot being sent during the emergency following Dunkirk(I think) and used for various jobs there. You could be quite right about this one though, may have done service earlier...nice inspector's marks.

The RFC purchase of M1903 win is documented in Part 2 "Britishicon Secondary Small Arms 1914-18' AO Edwards
They were used in tandem with a Lewis MG non firing in a mock aircraft observers position on the ground.
