How to disassemble bolt?

I have another open post about the same rifle trying to troubleshoot a hard to open action.

As a related question I’m not sure how to proceed with bolt disassembly.

This rifle is fitted with a Buehler two position safety (no center “safe but bolt unlockable” position). The disassembly instructions for the bolt say to cock the action and put the safety in the center position. It seems this is needed to keep the firing pin rod catch from dropping into its decocked position while the bolt is being disassembled.

How do I disassemble the bolt without that center position?

I am surprised that no one has come forward to answer your question so I shall venture an answer. I have a bolt on which the handle has been altered to clear a scope and it is equipped with a Buhler safety.
As you have surmised , with the Buhler safety there is not center or disassembly notch- the safety is either on or off and in the on position the bolt cannot be opened.
What you have to do is:
1. Ensure that the safety is off.
2. With the bolt in your left hand and the cocking knob in your right hand, disengaged the bolt sleeve lock , seize the cocking knob and begin unscrewing the firing pin assembly counter clockwise. When the cocking cam on the firing pin rod drops into the cocking slot on the bolt, you have to manually pull back on the cocking knob until it clears this notch, then continue to unscrew the assembly.
3. Continue to unscrew the firing pin assembly until it comes free of the bolt. On the last couple of turns the firing pin will clear the cocking slot on the bolt without pulling back on the cocking knob.
4. Re assembly is just the reverse.

Thanks for the reply. I omitted one piece of information in this post which was in my other thread. And that is that the cocking piece knob is missing from my bolt assembly. I'm thinking for purposes of bolt disassembly I could maybe get away with vice grips? At present there is no grippable surface on the cocking piece.
I'll follow your instructions to try and disassemble the bolt. Was hoping there was a well known jig of some sort to ease the process but I guess I'll make do.

Just to close out the thread I was able to get the bolt apart using Cosine26's instructions. I had to use a pair of vise grips on the end of the cocking piece since my rifle doesn't have an actual knob, but this worked reasonably well.

I would have grabbed it in protected vise jaws myself. Then while pulling forward, just unscrew. This might be a bit radical for many though...
