I hope they are able to make a go of it.
No formal government funding.
Probably willing to apply for grants if they exist.
They've beaten me to at least 3 items i couldn't afford ;-(

Tsk tsk Darren...you do not have to be rich to get all the toys you want. You just have to forego some of the lesser needs like food, heat, shelter, vehicles newer than 20 years, etc.

And if I may add, while convincing your better half that the rifle/scope etc is an 'investment' .... Well, it might be if you ever intend to sell it!

I'm trying, I keep turning the furnace down by 1 degree and somehow it always goes up 2...
My friend Ted used to say: "you can own everything, just not all at the same time..."

A friend at this same auction left his bidding card unattended on his chair for awhile. When he returned I told him that I had used it to buy everything that came up while he was gone, according to his instructions of course. He did not believe me for some reason.
I had thought of buying the very rare EX2 sight when I noticed it in the auction listing, as we have two FN CDN EX1 rifles in the 12 Service Battalion Museum here in Richmond (I am the Curator) but then I remembered from my visit to Stencollector’s home that you had at least one FN CDN EX rifle so I checked with you. You have an EX2 needing a sight so I backed off and offered to help you get it. You have helped me many times so it was a pleasure to be able to reciprocate.
I noticed someone off to my left who was also bidding but I just kept waving my bidding card, on your behalf, at the auctioneer until he stopped. :-) I only went after three things at the auction and got all three. Scottish basket hilt sword and scabbard Pattern 1828, 1917 German Maxim M.G. 08/15 (deactivated and missing some parts but I know it’s capture history) and the EX2 sight.

Maybe you could do a thread on that one? Love to see it...

The Unit Optic was manufactured by R&J Beck.
Happy to help ;-)
By the way I still need a C.No.67 scope...

GEEZ Darren, you make me feel bad. I have been involved in both a Cno67 scope deal, and a SMG C1 deal in the recent past, and never forwarded either deal to you. You will certainly be first in line for whichever I find in the future.
