My Sten Gun MK2 - date and info?

    Hi guys.

New to this forum, and new as a Sten owner.

Is there any way to get some info on it from the serial numbers?

Welcome to the forum, i'm not sure there's anything on production dates of specific serial numbers, maybe batches and lots? There IS a guy here that wrote a book of sorts about the Sten, wonder if he's about and able to clarify?
    Regards, Jim

It's an unmodified Mk2 Sten, assembled at ROF6, Fazakerley. There is a good well researched and cheap little book out about these guns called The Sten Machine Carbine. I forget who it's by but it is available from Collector Grade Publications in Canadaicon. But be quick as I have heard that they are down to their last copies. You'll never nbeed to ask another question about them.

There is nothing cheap about that book these days. A quick search shows one would be lucky to get a copy for less than $400.

Someone today mentioned he was looking for the "Guns of Dagenham" book. That one is now listed at up to $2,000 on some sites.

I have been making a mistake thinking my guns are any kind of investment. I should have been buying multiple copies of these books. I say multiple because I will be buried with the copies I have now (Gives me something to read in the afterlife).

I see that Peter's Sten book is still available new from a specialist UKicon retailer showing in stock at £45. Don't know how many they have left though. Good to see that as enthusiasts these guys haven't jumped on the extreme profiteering bandwagon.

I'd rather not publish the details in open forum as I wouldn't want to suddenly see copies popping up on certain auction or other sites at 10 times the price ....

But for any members here stuck finding one drop me a pm. P.s absolutely no connection to me!

    Cool

Yep! I'm glad I won't be around to sort thru my stuff after I'm dead! Someone is going to have one hell of a time sorting & selling everything. I don't envy them the task, But I sure Not going to help them any by selling a bunch of my collection before I go! IT IS Mine and will be till someone else gets it!
