If you had one of those in the UK Gil, you can bet your last penny that someone somewhere in authority WOULD define that as a firearm on the basis that it was firing a '.....other like missile'. And if that interpretation was thwarted, then he would define the laccy bands as a '.....noxious things'. As sure as little green apples. Give some people a bit of authority and some WILL abuse it.......... Where can I get the drawings?

Peter,
I thought it ingenius. If you put yourself in his shoes, where would you start?
You would have to know the basics of a revolving gattling type principle, activated by a trigger of sorts that was capable of tripping each barrel without a misfire.
On that basis loaded with lit matches, it would probably come under Section 1 of the Firearms Act
‘Firearm’ means a lethal barrelled weapon of any description from which any shot, bullet or other missile can be discharged

You are correct, both my parents worked. There were many times I dreaded them coming home to find out what I had done. But boy was it a fun ride. An E Ticket!

Early on only my father worked & traveled all week. I had always forgotten what diabolical transgression I had perpetrated on Monday
when I got jacked up for said transgression on Friday when dad rolled in.

Gil. having been in the police, how would they define the good old fashioned catapult nowadays, especially if caught in the street with one, not that I ever did? I remember the fun and joy, as a young lad, at discovering the amazing power of a catapult, powered by nothing more than elastic and the strength of your arm.

Its all about "intent" if you specify a catapult, like that lad has there, albeit it does appear to be barrelled.
As its not a lethal barrelled weapon it doesn't fit the definition, and therefore outside of the Firearms legislation of this country.

If I had the drawings, I'd have one of those made over the weekend. Simple things...., simple minds and all that....... When I was teaching simple physics to the back-of-the-class scivers I would imagine that a simple toy like this would incorporate a load of good things that you could relate to basic physics. Leverage ratios, torque, torsion. bound and rebound, watch the flying laccy-band and you've got gravity............. Brilliant

Here you go then, another version, obviously I haven't had time to check the plans out and try making it. Gatling Rubber Band Machine Gun - Easy Weekend Project: 13 Steps (with Pictures)
I don't recommend anyone clicking on the green "buttons" which are adverts and could take you anywhere. It is the "red pdf" downloads that you need to click to get the plans.
