    Mauser Crest

    Hello Guys,

Can anyone decipher this mauser receiver crest?
It appears the have a crown and the rest is faintly like a Syrian crest.
It's for sale, but I would like to know what it is before I buy!!
Thanks to the one who can give me the info

    Gil

Without a photo we are all puzzled.
However, in Ball: "Mauser Military Rifles of the World" or "Mauser Military Rifle markings" by Terence Lapin you will find most genuine Mauser crests and markings.
If your example is in neither of these books, then it is either super-rare or dubious!

It's Spanish Air Force, 1940s. Most likely made in Oviedo.

Apropos of nothing: Ever notice how many of the "what is it?" posts turn out to be Spanish Mausers? This has become my default guess even before reading the post or looking at images. Peace, out.
