SRS Check please - late 1898

Hi, I've had this Kragicon for almost 20 years, bought back when they seemed to be going up in price, so I thought I better get one. The cartouche is 1902, and I always figured that was all I would learn about it. Over the years I saw the SRS data talked about, but never learned what it was all about. I guess now is the time, could someone look it up and tell me if there is data on it? Thanks.

    1898 Serial 382689

    Closest I get it:
    383892R 051729NEW CUMBERLAND GRD (DESTROYED)

But my edition is quite old. Someone with a newer edition may have data on it.

'AZshot' - Your picture shows a nice looking U.S. Kragicon.

Model 1898 rifle, #382689, would have been assembled around April, 1902. There is a nice agreement between your Stock's 1902 ' Acceptance Cartouche' and the likely date range of manufacture.

'SRS Data' consists of serial number references, collected by Franklin Mallory and others, of U.S. military arms that were recorded in government documents. Only a small percentage of U.S. Krag serial numbers are cataloged.

The closest number to yours is actually #382698. This was a model 1898 rifle that was destroyed, 05/17/1929, by military guard staff at the New Cumberland Depot in Pa.

(I'm glad it wasn't your Krag that was destroyed, along with many others)!
