This is the format the text was sent to me!!!
    Bolt/receiver match.
    Bore is very good.
Stock is original with no obvious cracks or repairs.

First the older Enfields I have no clue about. The stampings on the left butt socket indicate modifications I guess to a 1*??? If so what were they?
Are these rifles in original condition quite collectable?
Can smokeless powder be used in this firearm, albeit light loads?
Thanks for your input fellows....sorry I have no pictures!!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. It sounds like a standard MLE Mk I converted to Charger Loading Lee Enfield by Vickers, Son & Maxim. I have a VSM converted CLLE, same year. On the description left side of the receiver, where you typed " M 1909," my guess is that is the VSM, only the V and S were either lightly stamped or covered by the dumbbell spring.

Pretty collectible rifle. The Charger Loaders are fun rifles. If you look at my photos, I have a picture of the left side of my VSM converted CLLE, if that helps. I shoot mine with handloads, and surplus military rounds with no problems (Obviously smokeless). The "E" on the top of the knox indicates enfield rifling for use with cordite-propellant ammunition.

Be nice to see some pics.

    Keep us updated.
