    Help with a barrel marking

Hi folks. apologies for another of the same old markings questions. I've done quite a bit of research online re smle markings, but the rifle I'm looking at now is not familiar in terms of barrel marking. It's a 1914 BSA smle, non-matching bolt and magazine, and has this marking on the barrel. I'm wondering if the 'K' style marking is actually two broad arrrows with the points touching. However, having them sat in a triangle, is not something I've seen before. I'm wondering if this is a more recent barrel than the one originally with the 1914 receiver. any thoughts very much appreciated. I'm trying to purchase a Great War smle, as my grandfather fought (and died) with one in 1917 and it weirdly makes me feel closer to him being able to get close to his weapon. Thanks.

IMHO it is the double broad arrow stamp with an Iraqi property stamp.

    Thanks

Thanks Green for the information. I had no idea about Iraq markings, but a quick check of google images, and the triangle with the arabic symbol inside is clearly an Iraqi marking. The question was with regard to an smle on gun broker right now. I am looking for a good WW1 example, but from what I'm reading this rifle may have been more likely put together from WW1 parts for an Iraq contract some time after the war. No less interesting, but not necessarily the pedigree I was looking for. Thanks for the swift and spot-on reply.

It would appear that the rifle was formerly owned by Iraq and later captured? and the property mark cancelled. Interesting marking, possibly Britishicon captured. I have posted my odd ball POFicon No.4 Mk1 (Pakistan Ordnance Factory) captured by Indian during their war and the Indians lined through all Pakistani markings.

Or sold out of Brit service and transferred to Iraq. Iraq was a former Ottoman Turk possession and formed about 1920 as a Britishicon protectorate. Probably a WW1 brit service arm.

Thanks guys, for helping with this. The stories these old rifles could tell. Does anyone know dates that these smle's were sent to Iraq? I'm assuming they would have been used in WW1 first, but it would be nice to know if they would have been used in WW2 before being sent over to Iraq. Thanks. (ps - it does seem peculiar that the broad arrows are over the top of the Iraq symbol).
