    Old Mate

Went to the Singapore air museum whilst we we holidaying last month they had a good selection of aircraft on static display.
I stood next to this bird as in the early 70's as an Army cadet we were taken up in one like this and flown around the Northam army base north of Perth it was a real treat to ride in one with the side doors open, the pilot did some very high G turns pretty much looking at the ground out of the doors.

So thought I would share some small part of my experience with one, the museum is well worth the visit as you can get right up close to the displays.

By the way a merry Xmas to you all and a happy new years, am looking forward to another year at milsurps.

    Cinders,
They still use them at our Parachute Regiment Jungle Warfare School in Brunei, lovely aircraft, bloody noisy inside and out. The best platform for high abseils into the trees.
Hear them coming for miles. The Vietcong must have loved that!!

Good to see you Cinders...I did lots of ups and downs in those myself. Not quite the same, we used the twin engine. Apparently, the only country to adopt it. Long time past now...
    Regards, Jim

Here's one of the Bell 212's of 7 Flight Army Air Corps based in Brunei on my trip back to the Jungle, with one of the veterans I took back to The Battle of Plaman Mapu in the background
