Was the Enfield No 9 Mk I Trainer Used In Canada?

I picked up a No 9 Mk I trainer earlier in the year. I knew it was a hard one to find and the price was very reasonable. Shoots great and my Son and I have enjoyed it a great deal. It's an early No 4 that has been scrubbed although I have not removed it from the stock to see barrel markings under the wood. PH 56 with a serial number of A164. The serial number is also on the bolt and fore end and they are matching. Has the proper N9 marking not No 9. It also has the rounded muzzle. However this rifle is fitted with a Canadian No 7 rear sight and magazine with the loading platform. Just wondered if these were used in Canada where the sight and magazine were switched out. Also if anyone has seen this sort of modification if that is the case. My guess finding one of the original rear sights would be like a needle in the stack so to speak. Will try and get photos tomorrow if weather permits.

No, the Canadians used the Canadian model 7 only.

That said it was not uncommon for individuals to use parts hanging around to assemble home made assemblies.

I have a Savage No 4 MK 1/3 that was set up as a Canadian No 7, complete with all the Canadian bits, even the wood is modified Canadian wood. Story was it came from an armorer who set it up.

You are likely right,however, my old Canadian Government Supply microfiche from the 1980s does show the no8 rifle, with 3 NSNs for 3 different butt lengths. That said, I have never seen any other supporting literature for them, nor are there any other parts listed in the catalogue.

I did not find the no9 listed either.

Thank you both and while I am certain it is a "true" No 9 Mk I my question is if these sights and magazine could have been switched out to say Canada Cadets to make it when competing they are all the same so to speak. Doubting the rifle is a garage or armory put together but guess I could be wrong. Also forgot to mention it has no import marks at all. Anyone's guess as to how it came upon the sights and magazine. It appears to be the lowest serial range thus far of this rifle seen.
