    New reads for Nov-Dec

Got these whilst travelling on our holiday recently, The Black Watch I am about 120p in and its really good just have to buy Vol 1 so I have the set, Cu Chi have only grazed it but looks good, The Fall of Singapore 90 days is a detailed personal accounts of various aspects of that conflict (very detailed). (All H/C's other than the Cu Chi)

Things we learnt on the Battle Box tour in Singapore was it took the IJA (Under Yamashita) just 55 days to conquer Malaysia (They gave him 100) he then rolled up Singapore.
The Britishicon out numbered Yamashita 3-1 but Percival was unaware of this fact as they the British were cut of from the sea so could not be re-supplied, Percival had only 2 days worth of fighting supplies left.
So Percival surrendered to Yamashita but the worm turned when McArthur made it a point that Percival had to be there when Yamashita signed the surrender of his troops I was unaware of this fact but learnt this at the Battle Box tour which is well worth it.

Then just a copy Sun Tzu's The Art of War which it says is recommended reading for Marine Corps Officer cadets (Thats what they say in the preface anyway)

Sun Tzu's "Art of War" is recommended reading for many junior to intermediate Army staff courses, as preparatory study for tactics. Funny how the more things change, the more they stay the same. The principles of war taught to me in Badcoe Hall differed very little from those outlined by Sun Tzu in the 5th Century BC.
Trying to save Service history, one rifle at a time...
