I was from Ontario and they started with salt but eventually changed to calcium. I understand here in British Columbia it's a chemical and I've used it myself to control grass growth in gravel. It still causes rust though...and of course you can buy bags marked to the Windsor salt co. So like Warpig says, salt's still out there. I remember the grass medians in the highways all dead in the spring from this stuff. All the cars would be eaten through in four years.

Wiper blades, or headlights, or turn signal bulbs........
I once had a mechanic tell me that the State would come down on them if they DIDN't find anything wrong - implied they weren't doing a "proper" inspection...

Wonder what would happen Merle if you took a brand new off the floor car to them bit of a rort going on there somewhere I think or perhaps new cars were exempted
I got caught once saying to the Holden dealership with a VE Commodore coming up for its major high kilometer service saying "Do it as per manual" will never say that again! A $3,156.00 service thank you very much had no leg to stand on as I said do it as per manual.
Yet the same dealer gave me my other Commodore back a 2012 SV6 VE with a failed Left rear shock absorber which was still under warranty (just) without replacing it, after I pointed out that it was under warranty and they had failed by not replacing it on the spot, before I left their service center I got under the car to ensure they replaced the unit, they seemed miffed!
We now go to a very honest well priced workshop but that Holden dealership can take a hike.........

In Nashville you need an emissions test every year two counties away you don't need one. I came from Ohio and salted roads and rusty vehicles. I have a 98 GMC Jimmy that has a perfect drive train but it needs a complete frame. I often had people ask why I never washed it and my reply was the dirt was the only thing holding it togeather
