Speaking of Bayonets....Belgian?

I have a Gun South, 1980's import 50:00 with the bipod & long, slender flash hider...It has a very low profile bayo lug...Was there ever a bayonet made for these?...I am interested in learning more about these 80's imports..Can someone shed some light on them?..I know Browning also imported some, correct?

Yes, there was a bayonet made for that type flash suppressor. It was called the Bayonet-Knife, T13 when it was issued with the T48 rifle during the 1950's. I don't have my references with at this time so I cannot tell you FN's designation for it. Go over to the FAL Files. You might find one over there.

Yes there is a bayonet for the slender flash suppressor. It is the same as the Bayonet-knife T13 used on the T48 rifle. You might want to go over to the FAL Files. Someone over there might have a lead where to find one.

The next question is that mine came from the UK FN rifle trials of c1956 or so and is marked down between the left and right grip X2 E1 3885 (presumably the serial number) and the scabbard has X1E1 engraved on top of the mouthpiece.

Are these wood gripped or ex trials FN bayonets rare

Reasonably uncommon, but not "rare".

The "Type A" X2E1 bayonet used on the British X8E1 & X8E2 Trials FN-FALs is very similar (but apparently not identical to) the Type A issued with the Canadian Ex1 & Ex2 FN-FAL trials rifles.

Interestingly they have 2 prongs which when combined with the back of the blade form a 3 prong flash hider.

These also use the "elastique" (from the FN-49) type of latch which allows the bayonet to float in place while the rifle moves in recoil.

They are similar to the "Type B" FAL bayonet issued with the American T48 FN-FAL trials rifles. The "Type B" bayo blade was somewhat shorter and did not have the prongs for the flash hider as the barrel was permanantly equipped with a flash hider.

The "Type B" bayonet was also used on the FN-FAL match rifles imported into the 'States during the 70s-80s. I have been told that less than 500 bayonets were imported into the US.

I'm one of the lucky ones who has one of the only 500 imported type B bayos that came with match rifles.

However, I don't have the leather frog shown by A Square 10. Anyone know where I may find one?
