Nice group you have there.
Thank you for the Welcome
Bruce beat me too it, but again welcome.
The guys here can pretty much answer any question you might have.
Have you broken your carbine down to see what you have inside?
I have a suggestion, don't leave the muzzle cover on for long time storage. It could hold moisture and damage your barrel.

Again, welcome.
Try to find Carbine Club #361 It has Chris Albright's extraordinary article on the 1944 Inlands. It is an amazing read. You will be able to find out exactly what you have. My 5.4 Inland NRA sale gun checked out 100% using his info.
Dave,
I just looked your 5,4 over again the other day.
Really nice Transitional Inland...... but you already knew that.

It would just be a guess with me. I'd say Sept. 44 is good. I know exactly when my Win 5.6 was made 3/44. The inland has a later slide, bolt, handguard than the Win. The Win is in as good of a shape as this Inland. I think they were both NRA guns.
Here's my 5.41 Inland with 8-44 barrel and Type 3 rear sight. Later upgrades are the safety, mag catch, bayonet lug, and the NPM bolt I sold to Charlie. - Bob
