    Enfield newb found a 49 No4 Mk1

    Hi all,

What a cool site. I have a few milsurps but no Enfields until a few days ago. Lucked into this one at a pawn shop and had a few questions after I tried researching it's origins.

I think it was a South Africa 90s import. Has the Alexandria VA stamp. Has no markings on either side of the wrist guard. Trying to attach a couple pics. Any help on where it traveled would be cool. Still is full of cosmo but the bore is nice.

    Thanks Southpaw

Get those pics up, would love to see!! And ten to one that bore is going to look amazing once you get all the cosmolineicon out. A generous amount of gun scrubber, followed by dry patches, then some CLP will clean the bore out of any junk and allow you to see the condition wonderfully

I had hundreds of the South African owned No.4's imported by Interarms in the late 80's and early 90's. I still have three in my personal collection. An unaltered '42 Long Branch, '41 date Savage and a '49 ROF Fazakerley that's interesting since it's been through FTR in South Africa and is blued. They were some of the best quality war reserve rifles to be had and most were in very nice shape inside and out. Enjoy.
