Hello all,
I picked up a 1200TX with the intention of building up a M82 type clone. It has a massive aftermarket barrel in 7.62. The barrel is 1.2355" at the muzzle. I have a NOS PH heavy barrel squirreled away for the build. I need to pull it out and see if it is right for the build as I haven't seen it in a few years.
Also, the safety has been snapped off right at the stock line. I have a new replacement on order and looks like I will have to drive a pin out of the trigger mechanism that holds the safety in place. The pin appears to have been peened in the middle to spread it out to hold the safety on.
I couple of quick questions:
- Serial is R34297, so approximately what would be the year of manufacture?
- Would an M81 cadet stock have the correct profile for the M82? I know that the cadet is in single shot configuration and would have to been inlet and fit for the appropriate trigger guard but it has the stock spacers already in place and it looks the part.
- The rear scope base holes are a larger diameter than the front scope base holes. Are the BA22 and BA28 PH scope bases the appropriate bases for this rifle?
Thanks all in advance for the help.
