another 22 rim fire conversion with the Model 1903 rifle

Back a few years ago, the CMPicon was selling low number 1903 barreled actions, the barrels were shot-out, cost was $100. I bought a barreled action and had a quality barrel liner installed that had a rear extension for the M2 bolt. I bought a nice used M2 bolt that had the headspace adjustment. I then installed a Lyman 438 scope and found this rifle to be quite accurateAttachment 91099Attachment 91100Attachment 91101

    Interesting rifle!
I have a similar project on the go using salvaged SMLE parts. Cut a "match" chamber in the liner, although that may be overkill. Ready to do some accuracy testing now with an aperture sight. If it is a good shooter, I will return it to issue appearance and would like to install mounts so that an old Fecker external adjustment scope can be mounted.

    "match" chamber reamer

I did use a match chamber reamer in my conversion of an old Rem rolling block in 43 cal that I installed and glued-in a 22 rim fire liner. It worked out quite well along with a new trigger/sear that I also made-up.

The match chamber should work out well on your project with the Lee Enfield. I did build a 22 rf conversion years ago on the Lee Enfield but the barrel already had a liner and chamber when I got it.
