British Pattern 1914 rifle converted to .303/7.92mm RIMLESS caliber

I am aware of several Pattern 1914 rifles converted to a test cartridge, .303/7.92mm RIMLESS cartridge.

This rifle is additionally interesting in that it was previously owned by Canadian John A. Belton who wrote about the rifle in the very first issue of the Canadian Journal of Arms Collecting, February 1963. The title was, "Two Experimental Pattern-14 Enfield Riflesicon of Note." The second rifle was fitted with a muzzle break and converted to a high velocity wild cat round by experimenter C. C. Meredth of Ontario Canadaicon.

Belton was a well known Canadian cartridge collector and cartridge collecting editor of the Canadian Journal of Arms Collecting.

This ends the study of US Enfields and all will be returned to extended storage. I did not include arms with National Chinese, Chinese and a rifle with MkII replacement Britishicon manufactured stock. Is there interest?

This was the receiver marking of the rifle that Poulin sold last fall:

Are you aware of how this cartridge looks like? A 8x57 cartridge body retracted (is this the correct term? Sorry, not a native speaker) to for a .303 Britishicon bullet?

Skennertonicon mentions these rifles were made for a trials in 1937.

    Is this the monster?
Bears a considerable resemblance to 7.62x51mm overall though a slightly steeper taper on the main body.

“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.

Somewhere I read that the 8mm experimentation was done to develop a round for the coax tank machine gun. Some Britishicon tanks in WWII used 8mm (7.92 x 57) mauser cartridges. Or so I have read and been told.
