MLE Technial stuff
G'day there, I'm chasing some technical details and advice for a complete and unmodified 'Long' LE I*.
First off, how far is it from the shoulder which the band/swivel mounts against to where the nosecap mounts. So, when you take the band and nosecap off: How long is that straight piece of fore-end? This area of the fore-end has been cut off and without scrapping and replacing the whole stock I reckon I can get a replacement straight piece like this made and join it under the band/swivel with dowel and glue, or is there a better way?
And, how impossible is it to find a normal 30" LE barrel without scrapping a complete rifle? Does anyone even make repros of them? Oh yeah, and do the flip-up dial sights actually exist? I've never even spoken to someone that has seen them.

By flip up dial sights, are you referring to the front or rear volley sight component? the front is the volley sight plate (graduated up to about 2800yds) with pointer and the rear volley sight is the longer flip up sight attached to the receiver with the dumbbell spring. If it is the front dial plate and pointer I have a few.

Rear volley sight component. I've seen a few with the plate, and even have one now, but the rear flip-up sight is what I am after. I need to learn the nomenclature better.
But thanks a bunch Kiwi, you've helped me out a bunch with that bolt so far. It looks great by the way.

Fitting a bayonet, the front face of the nose cap to muzzle is 4-3/4 inches, so work back from there.
There are repro volley arms out there, Numrich has them listed.
Just a blackened casting, they are pretty good when cleaned up and refinished.

Cheers Englishman, and I had a look there but couldn't find anything, but that being said I have never had much to do with them and might just be looking in the wrong place.
