    Nitride/Melonite treatment on a M1917?

Would an M1917 be able to handle the treatment? The sporterized rifle I recently got was neglected a bit and is in need of a refinish, and I was wondering if anyone thinks this would be a bad option.

I’m unfamiliar with those treatments specifically but why not parkerizing? That would be accurate for a refinish anyway (note I say refinish — the original finish was blued).

I'm partial towards nitride because it makes the metal harder and also makes it extremely corrosion resistant. It looks similar to a good blued gun, but I was wondering if it anyone knew if it would mess up the temper on the steel or not.

No, it will not. Make sure chamber is correct before hand. Cutting afterword's is damn near impossible. Polish chamber and bore with JB as it leaves a little "fuzz".
