Dang Jim, plugging those poor wabbits on FA. Was there anything left to put in the stew? Kidding aside, I love my L112 conversion kit too. Never fired one on FA though. Drive tacks at 50 yards with it.

That was mostly gophers, not very effective...the rabbits and grouse and odd goose and duck would be a single shot to the mellon mostly... The ammo was mostly Winchester/Western Super X solid 40s in plain boxes.

So is there a specific after market rail to mount a modern optic that you guys recommend. I like that idea but I see there are several makes of it out there but if you guys had good success with?

Mines aluminium, ruggedly constructed, but with no makers name, bought it secondhand....
Did we also mention the twin rear leaf Hythe back sight?? Get hold of one of those too.

The only limiting factors Brian with the L12A1 kit is A, my shooting B, military trigger.
With a light trigger and a snug liner, I think it would be capable of extremely good accuracy.
I tried one of my liners in an old rather worn L1A1 barrel and it clattered down it like throwing a sausage down the high street! Might as well use a shotgun, the group size (should I say spread of shot) would be similar at 50yds

not a great candidate for telescope
Agreed as they have a tin body cover. Needs more solid mounting...even our CAL optic was marginal.

Ok thanks again...this is all sound advice. I am anxious to get to the range, maybe this weekend and see what she will do.
Then I will consider extra options. You guys have been a great help.. I have done a ton of reading, studied schematics and looked st what’s available (should I need bits).
Keep the thoughts and comments coming.

Did you send an order for the User Handbook? It will help you a ton in adjusting the gas settings, zero, sighting, etc.

OK, so here she is.........I am awaiting the tool to remove the butt stock to swap over the wood one. I need a new grip screw (pistol grip cover screw), the one I have is not correct (anyone have a spare? having a hard time finding this part in stock), and a few other bits.
For a refresher, this is the rifle I posted several pix of above. ......Imbel receiver, mostly Enfield parts, with an Australian trigger assembly and butt stock
I am pretty happy with my purchase so far...thanks to you gentlemen! This has been on my wish list for a long time, and now it is on my workbench.
I hope to get to the range in the next 2 weeks, so I will report back on how it operates.
