You just gotta wonder if the ones in the lake are still there in the muck.

The aircraft come out ok... ish.

stg44? 1895's? I like the idea but the practicality of the matter (and legality) is probably another story.

Interesting ... There was an enormous amount of gear dumped into the sea after WW2.

From a UKicon perspective it was mainly munitions and aircraft. Both understandable I suppose as war time mass production had generated an enormous stock of munitions, far more than could be realistically and easily stored.

They used landing craft and aircraft carriers, headed off to the Western approaches and simply shoved aircraft off the decks of carriers and munitions chucked overboard.

It's fresh water and mud so maybe. The most of what is in the air on the second photo looks to be Daisy Red Rider BB guns...all of them.

"...looks to be Daisy Red Rider BB guns..." Winchesters and Brownings. 1895's. That picture was in one of the gun rags years ago. There was all kinds of assorted now collector grade stuff, in collector grade condition, pitched into Lake Michigan. There's a spot off the Toronto Islands that scuba divers are not permitted, with a PDQ reaction by Harbour Police if you try, to dive for the same reason. Wasn't just firearms in Chicago though. Slot machines too.
"...aircraft come out ok..." Al doesn't corrode the same way steel does. Fresh water causes rust just as quick as salt water. It's about the amount of oxygen that matters. That's about depth.

Those are neither... Those might be aboard the barge, but those in the air are neither.
