Question for the experts
Is this an LB Bayonet
I just picked up this No.4 bayonet & Scabbard bubba had been at it with semi gloss black so I cleaned it up exposing the hidden marks.
The marks in question are on the socket of the bayonet the LB is this a Longbranch stamp on the scabbard is that a Canadian issue stamp?
Is the 71 is that the factory where produced. there is a No.2 there as well and two "C"s where the other numerals are.
Thank you in advance.
If iit is a LB and Canadian issued scabbard then I have done pretty good for $20 from fleabay with free postage.

The combined "L" and "B" is definitely the Longbranch stamp, if that helps - and the "C" with an arrow in it is one of the Canadian military markings as well.

Thank you for your reply C E appreciated the LB's are not that common down this neck of the woods and even less so on the West coast. I also just noticed on the scabb stud another very small "C" /|\ stamping.

Yes, the whole thing is ours... Nothing special around here but nice catch for you. Now to find a C broad arrow frog...

I think it's a great find. I have seen very few scabbards with a C broad arrow on the throat and I've been collecting these bayonets for over 20 years.

I guess I have to pay closer to my scabbards. Never really gave them a second glance before.

The Arrow in the 'C' is an acceptance stamp. Nothing to do with being issued or not.
"...for over 20 years..." Have all but one of 'em myself. Scared me looking at Collector's Source. $385.00 for a No. 7 Mk 1/L (Land) bayonet that I paid $20 for 30 years ago. $65 for just the scabbard. YIKES!
Spelling and Grammar count!
