Prices depended on who had the stuff. Some of the bandoliers were $75 (120 rounds) others were a bit higher. Boxes ranged from $25 up to $40, depending on how greedy the seller was. But in almost every case the ammo was at least a bit higher than at this time last year. I picked up a couple of boxes of 9mm Mak and it was just a couple bucks more.

Ed, (Tired Retired), you had mentioned in an earlier post that you had five wally-worlds in your area. You were going to ask them about the total lack of .30 Carbine.
My Bro-in-law and his wife were over for their regular Sunday visit today.
They had stopped by our local North Richland Hills store to pick up some 38SPL and looked for the .30 Carbine for me. None there. He asked the counter guy why there was none there and the counter guy informed him that they "don't stock it anymore."
What the heck is going on around here????
Corporate thing? I don't know. Any ideas?
    Phil

It's a special order, group buy 6 bullet mould made by Lee. I got it thru a guy (garandsrus) on castboolits.com. It is supposed to produce 115gr bullets, but I am casting mine with alot of linotype, and they are coming out at 100gr.

    Phil,

The 5 wallys I shop at are NRH, Saginaw, 820/Ruth Snow, Lake Worth and Westworth (by the base). Of those, only NRH, Saginaw and Lakeworth normally carried .30 Carb. I just got back in town from a business trip last week and I haven't even gone shopping. Guess the NRH is empty so I will check the others. I doubt that it is a 'anti' issue, probably just a sales issue. Most of them seem to carry .223 and that is considered more of an 'assault' gun bullet than .30 carb.

For All who read - it would not hurt if you asked for the store manager the next time you are at Wally world and ask them to carry the .30 Carb. Enough people asking at your wally world may get it put back on the shelf at one or two stores.

    Get what you can

It is not just Carbine ammo that's hard to find where I am; it's almost all ammo. I have not seen 7.62X39 ammo for a while and 5.56 has been very difficult also, with rising prices when you do find it. Both 45 & 9's are also difficult to find. A local WalMart will receive a delivery after 10PM and it's gone by 9AM the following morning. I know; I was there at 9:05AM.

Some feel that the market will stabilize soon, but I don't agree. Buy it while you can and start reloading.

I found one box of Remington .30 carbine at one Walmart yesterday ($25.97). The Sporting Goods manager seemed very interested when I requested that they continue to order it. I told him of the large number of people in the DFW area who are looking for .30 Carb. When I told him "if you order it, they will buy it" he said " then we will order it." I also noted that this walmart also has a new shelf dedicated to cleaning gear and targets. The previous store manager had previously "chosen" to not carry hunting gear. I do also know that several neighbors had been complaining to them about the lack of shooting gear.... Strange, seems that wally will actually sell almost anything for money....

    carbine ammo shortage.

My bro in law picked up 200 rounds the last on the shelf in a rural town in Co for me of Privi Partisan, at Xmas time. I live in CA, you can't get anything here. Last weekend I inventoried my ammo. I should be ok for awhile, as I don't shoot too much with 1000 + rounds of various manufactures for my three war babies. If prices are what they say, I would have to pay double to replace what I have. I'd say a good investment.
