BEAT 1911 dated DWM Luger. Rework????

Picked up this pretty beat up 1911 DWM. Looks like what you'd expect a Germanicon military P08 to look like until you consider it's got features a 1911 gun shouldn't (as far as I'm aware) Now I'm not a "Luger guy" so hopefully some of the more enlightened among you can get me learnt on what's going on here.

    All numbers match except
    - trigger
    - takedown lever (unnumbered)
    - hold open (unnumbered)
    - grips (WWII production, marked "S" with an eagle/655)

Barrel is either unnumbered or the number has been obliterated by time (looks like possible "n" suffix still visible. The suffix (if there ever was one) is gone from the frame.

Yes that one has been a few places! It appears to have an Erfurt frame (the proliferation of acceptance stamps was one of their hints), a Simson sear (the eagle/6) and a DWM toggle. Then of course the wartime grips. Barrel could be Simson too but it is hard to see clearly enough.
But it possesses quite a bit of 'don't mess with me, I've been there' look. Have you inspected it for shooting?

Haven't been to shoot yet, need to get a mag first. Everything looks solid though. Rifling is crisp, all the springs are in good shape, chambers a dummy round. I've got a gunsmith friend who said he'd give me some magazines so I'll probably have him take a look before we shoot it.

The price was certainly right, I'm glad I didn't pass it up

Very nice, I don't know much about the Luger except I'd certainly like one...... I found the link below on a particular Luger while I was looking for something else, maybe of interest to some Luger fans
