    Springfield Armory, 1909

    Hello,

I would like to have some advice please for this low number springfield1903.
the seller send me some poor pics...
I think it has a normal wear due to his venerable age, but is he "original"?
    Best regards from Franceicon

    Your photos won't get larger.

After insisting a bit, I finally had better quality photos.
The muzzle seems to be reworked.

Yes, the muzzle is pitted and has been recrowned.

Looks like a good example of a pre WW1 Springfield 1903, I noticed on the rear sight leaf slide, the screw is later, but could be replaced.

Two important questions: do you have a cartouche on the left side of the stock and how is the bore condition ?

I will ask the seller for the cartouche, and yes the bore seems to be a bit pitted, see the last pic I got this afternoon...

Is it just me or does the the handguard look monkeyed with near the rear sight?

    early rear hand guard

Before 1908 or so, the hand guard did not have the sight groove. After the sight groove was added, the hand guard clips came after

Nice early rifle with low wall stock too, yes rear sight screw replaced, hard to tell much else with pics provided so far.
Appears to me the muzzle crown rusted from a storage issue and a poorly done chamfer there. Lands are proud in the barrel though, and doesn't look that bad. Does barrel date correlate with serial number?
Not pristine, but how many are? if price is right I would buy it.
    Thanks for sharing!
