    Carcano information

I was given another 6.5 Carcano, a carbine, and I was hoping someone could give me some information on it.

It is marked....1941 XIX... on the left of the barrel

CAL 6.5...on top of the sight...a crown symbol, RE and TERNI in front of the action

a crown with BNP below it on the right of the barrel

in front of the action on the right side is the serial number with 6.5x52 IT below it and 175 tons per inch below that

Does this model have the gain twist rifling?

Any information or history would be greatly appreciated

    Roger

You probably have an M38 short rifle but without photos impossible to tell. Other options include the M38 cavalry carbine and the M41 which if carbine length would have been cut down. I believe that none of these models used gain twist rifling as it had been phased out.

Yep, looks like an M38 short rifle. The stock has been cut off just in front of the sling swivel band and the bayonet mount removed.
No problems, it was free, it will get put to good use as a scrub rifle for goats.
    Thanks for the info, cheers
