MLE Clearing Rod Length

I just bought a repro clearing rod which measures 17.2" Then I get told its too short and a guy measures his one and its 17.5". Does anyone have an official LoC Measurement for a MLE clearing rod?

Are there two patterns?

They are not cheap and it should be right.
