    Another Question About NRA Sporters

I was looking through my 1980's American Rifleman and ran across an article on a Springfield 1903 owned by Jack O'Conner. It was claimed to have started out as a NRA sporter. Of course, the only thing left on it that was near original when the article was written was the receiver and the .30/06 chambering (replacement barrel). The serial number is 1273272. This question is asked simply out of curiosity, but would anyone be so kind as to look it up?

As an aside; it saddened me to see the interesting, informative articles in the old American Rifleman compared to what the magazine has now become.
